Prof. Elvi Otobo Appointed Director of ARA UK/Ireland

Prof. Elvi Otobo has been appointed as the new Director of ARA UK/Ireland, an organization representing archivists and record managers across the United Kingdom and Ireland, with a membership of approximately 2,000.

In his role, Otobo aims to promote efficient service delivery and strengthen collaboration within the archival profession. He emphasizes the importance of archival records as vital assets for public accountability and cultural memory.

Otobo's leadership will focus on enhancing professional standards and ensuring that archival records continue to serve essential functions. He holds dual master's degrees in Archival Record and Information Management from the University of Ibadan and in Heritage Theory and Practice from the University of Plymouth, UK.

Additionally, he has a PhD in Information Resource Management from Babcock University. His extensive academic background and commitment to advancing the profession will guide his efforts to advocate for the sector across academia and heritage institutions.
