Nenadi Usman Appointed Labour Party Chairperson

Nenadi Usman has been appointed as the chairperson of the Labour Party's national caretaker committee, a decision supported by Abia State Governor Otti. This appointment was announced during a meeting in Umuahia, Abia State, on April 28.

Usman, a former Minister of Finance, expressed gratitude for Otti's support and highlighted the importance of women's representation in politics. She noted the decline in women's opportunities in governance, despite years of advocacy, and emphasized the need for women to continue fighting for political rights in Nigeria.

Usman also urged women's groups to remain resilient in the face of challenges and to support legislative efforts aimed at increasing women's seats in parliament. She acknowledged the Labour Party's achievement of having the first female national chairman among major political parties in Nigeria and reaffirmed the party's commitment to enhancing women's inclusion in politics.
