Police Rescue 13 Victims, Arrest Seven Kidnapping Suspects

On April 15, 2026, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) achieved a significant operational breakthrough in Benue State by rescuing 13 victims, including eight students, who were abducted in Otukpo. The operation was initiated following credible intelligence and involved a coordinated clearance operation across the Amla Forest Corridor.

A total of 18 passengers were accounted for, with all rescued individuals undergoing medical evaluation and reported to be in stable condition, set to be reunited with their families. Seven suspects were arrested, three of whom were positively identified as members of the kidnapping syndicate.

The investigation is ongoing to apprehend additional accomplices and dismantle the broader criminal network responsible for the attack. DCP Anthony Placid, the spokesperson for the operation, noted that IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu commended the professionalism and resilience displayed by the officers.

The IGP directed intensified clearance operations within Otukpo to ensure community safety and security.
