Outrage Over EFCC's ₦3.2 Billion Budget Allocation for Cleaning and Refreshments

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has proposed a total expenditure of ₦3.2 billion for cleaning, fumigation, meals, refreshments, and energy-related services in the 2026 budget. This allocation, part of the 2026 Appropriation Bill presented to the National Assembly, has raised eyebrows due to the significant amounts earmarked for non-core activities.

The EFCC's spending plan also includes allocations for motor vehicle fuel costs, maintenance of office furniture and equipment, and residential quarters. Public affairs analysts have criticized the recurrent spending pattern, warning against wastage and emphasizing the need for budget efficiency to benefit ordinary Nigerians.
