Over 10,000 Teachers Register for TRCN Exam in Nigeria

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) reported that over 10,000 teachers successfully registered for the Teachers’ Qualifying Examination from May 14-16, 2026, via its digital portal. Dr.

Ronk Soyombo, the Registrar and Chief Executive of TRCN, stated that the digital portal, launched in September 2025, aims to modernize the teacher registration and licensing process in Nigeria. Although the initial rollout faced challenges primarily due to high user traffic, the system has since been upgraded to enhance performance and security.

Soyombo emphasized that these initial difficulties are part of the normal adjustment process and not indicative of a failure of the digital initiative. The TRCN portal is designed to ensure transparency and eliminate fraudulent practices in teacher registration.

Maruf Alausa represented the Ministry of Education, highlighting the significance of this milestone in improving the teacher registration process nationwide.
