Oyebanji Pushes for Reforms to Boost LG Finances in Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has called for practical reforms to strengthen the financial health of local government councils. During a three-day workshop on fiscal administration and due process, held in Ado Ekiti, Oyebanji stressed that effective local governance is crucial for grassroots development.

He highlighted the need for capacity building in local government administration, emphasizing that success at the grassroots level depends on the competent management of public resources. The workshop, organized by the Ministry of Local Government Affairs, aimed to address critical areas such as fiscal administration and enhancing internal revenue generation.

Oyebanji noted that adhering to fiscal due process is foundational for good governance, ensuring public funds are managed according to established laws and ethical standards. He urged participants to adopt modern techniques in revenue administration and financial planning to optimize revenue without placing undue burdens on citizens.

The workshop was facilitated by Foloruso Olabod and attended by key local government officials, including Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi.
