ADC Candidate Adegoke Critiques Pension Delays in Oyo

Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, the gubernatorial candidate for the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, revealed that retired civil servants in the state typically wait between seven to ten years to receive their gratuities. During an address to residents of Oyo East, Oyo West, Atiba, and Afijio local government areas on Monday, Adegoke expressed concern over the lengthy delays in pension enrollment, which can extend for several months.

He criticized the current archaic methods of pension and gratuity payments, emphasizing the need for reform. Adegoke proposed that the process for gratuities should begin before retirement, allowing retirees to access their benefits immediately upon leaving service.

He stated, “Before retirement, the process of gratuities would have started so that they can immediately benefit upon retirement,” and pledged to ensure that retirees would be enrolled in the pension scheme the month following their retirement.
