Oyo APC Candidate Donates N50m to Fire Victims

Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Oyo State, announced a donation of N50 million to assist traders impacted by a fire at Oranyan Market in Ibadan. The fire, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, destroyed nearly 300 shops, affecting traders dealing in various goods.

Alli made the announcement via a Facebook post, stating that the donation is intended to provide immediate relief to those who lost their businesses and livelihoods. He emphasized the importance of the market to families and the community, describing its destruction as painful.

Alli's campaign team, including the Director-General and Deputy Director-General, visited the market to reassure affected traders of the planned support. Morof Akinwande, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Reforms, confirmed the incident and noted that the fire was brought under control by 1 am.

The Acting Governor, Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal, also expressed sympathy for the affected traders.
