APC Aspirant Advocates for Local Government Autonomy in Oyo

On Thursday, Dr. Ayobami Lam Adesina, an APC governorship aspirant for Oyo State, spoke at a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) guest platform in Ibadan.

He stressed the necessity of a functional local government system to achieve real grassroots development in Nigeria. Dr.

Adesina argued that local government autonomy is crucial for effective performance, particularly in sectors such as education, agriculture, and health. He pointed out that without local government autonomy, the agricultural sector would struggle to meet the needs of farm settlements.

He also mentioned the potential for improving revenue through cocoa production and proposed the establishment of a cocoa house at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ibadan. Dr.

Adesina's vision for Oyo State includes a strong focus on education, agriculture, and health as key areas for development if elected as governor.
