Oyo APC to Hold Direct Primaries for Gubernatorial Aspirants

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the leadership of Chairman Mose Adeyemo, announced plans to conduct direct primaries for gubernatorial aspirants. This decision was made to ensure a free, fair, and credible electoral process as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Adeyemo stated that all registered party members would be involved in the primaries, which will take place at the ward level. He emphasized the commitment to treating all aspirants fairly according to the principles of progressive democracy.

The announcement followed the deployment of a screening appeal committee from the APC's national secretariat in Abuja to oversee the process. Adeyemo also mentioned that the party would consider a consensus arrangement if necessary, but the primary focus remains on organizing a credible electoral exercise.

The screening committee, led by former Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker Taofiq Abdussalam, is tasked with ensuring that eligible aspirants participate in the primaries.
