Oyo State Allocates N4.3bn for December 2027 Elections

The Oyo State government has approved a budget of N4,278,000,000 for the local government elections set for 29 December 2027. Prince Dotun Oyelade, the state's Commissioner for Information, announced that elections for chairmanship and councillorship will occur across the 33 local government areas.
The funding will be provided through a partnership between the state government and local councils, with the councils contributing 60% (N2,566,800,000) and the state providing 40% (N1,711,200,000). This decision was made during a meeting of the state’s executive council, which also approved additional funding for various educational initiatives, including the accreditation of the Nursing Programme at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University.
Governor Seyi Makinde's administration has already invested over N3 billion in equipment for the nursing program. The council commended the governor for his efforts in state development, despite the approaching end of his term in May 2027.
