Oyo State Clarifies Ogbomoso Farm Settlement Plans

The Oyo State Government has clarified that the development of portions of the Ogbomoso Farm Settlement is not intended for sale but is part of a long-term strategic plan integrating agriculture, housing, and economic development. Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information, stated that Olasunkanmi Olaleye, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, explained this rationale following a recent notice from the ministry.

Olaleye highlighted that the initiative aligns with the state government's development plan under Engr. Seyi Makinde's leadership, focusing on agricultural transformation, food security, and employment generation. The proposed New Town aims to complement agricultural productivity through a Farm Housing Scheme that integrates modern agriculture with residential communities.

The initiative is also a response to the changing dynamics of the farm settlement, which has been encroached upon by residential developments. Olaleye noted that some occupants have been on the land without formal documentation, necessitating government intervention to optimize land use for public benefit.
