Oyo Electoral Commission Ensures Credible LG Elections

Dr. Babatunde Adeniyi, the chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), announced on Thursday that the commission is committed to conducting free, fair, and credible local government elections in Oyo State, set for December 29, 2026.

During a meeting with the executive of the Oyo State Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), led by chairman Mr. Yinka Adeniran, Dr.

Adeniyi stated that the commission is prepared to abide by the rules and guidelines governing the electoral process to deliver credible elections. He highlighted the importance of collaboration with the media and political parties to address issues such as voter apathy, which is often seen in local government elections.

Dr. Adeniyi expressed confidence that the commission would conduct transparent elections in compliance with relevant laws and solicited support from all stakeholders to achieve this mandate.
