Oyo State Government Prioritizes School Safety Initiatives

On Tuesday, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring the safety of pupils, students, and teachers during a seminar on school safety. The seminar, themed “Building Resilient Schools: Strengthening Operational Capacity for Safety, Security and Child Protection in Oyo State Educational Institutions,” was organized by the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, at the Secretariat in Ibadan.

Represented by Akin Oyedele, Head of Operations of the Oyo State Security Trust Fund, Makinde emphasized the administration's significant investments to prevent schools from becoming targets for criminal elements. He called for collaboration among security agencies, school authorities, and communities to implement effective security measures.

The Commissioner for Education, Olusegun Olayiwola, represented by Bamidele Oyinloye, highlighted the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in ensuring school safety. NSCDC Commandant Augustine Padonu, represented by Timothy Patunola, identified key vulnerabilities in school security that need urgent attention.
