Oyo State Launches Daily Environmental Sanitation Initiative

The Oyo State Government has launched a daily environmental sanitation initiative to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment across the state. Ademola Aderinto, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, announced this during a press briefing marking his first 100 days in office.

The initiative replaces the traditional monthly sanitation exercise with a proactive daily approach, encouraging residents to take responsibility for maintaining cleanliness. The program includes the deployment of 930 environmental personnel and the procurement of two new compactor trucks to enhance waste evacuation efforts.

Additionally, the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme was launched, and a whistleblower platform named "Oyo Soro Soke" was introduced to empower residents to report environmental violations. The initiative also features a waste segregation system and aims to construct modern public toilets through public-private partnerships.

Aderinto expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for the opportunity to serve and emphasized the importance of inter-ministerial collaboration in achieving these goals.
