Oyo State Launches Waste Management Initiative

The Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, has officially launched the first phase of a waste segregation initiative aimed at promoting proper waste management. The ceremony took place at the state secretariat in Ibadan, where Hon.

Ademola Aderinto, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, emphasized the importance of the initiative. The program involves distributing clearly labeled waste bins designed to facilitate the segregation of waste into plastics, paper, and biodegradable materials, thereby improving recycling efforts and collection efficiency.

Aderinto noted that this initiative represents a significant step towards institutionalizing environmental best practices within the government. He also highlighted the need for strict adherence to proper waste disposal methods across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Prof. Musibau Babatunde, from the Governor's office, commended the initiative and urged sustained advocacy for achieving a cleaner and healthier Oyo State.
