Oyo State Partners with EFCC to Combat Terrorism Financing

The Oyo State Government announced a partnership with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to combat terrorism financing, as stated by Acting Governor Bayo Lawal on Wednesday during a workshop in Ibadan. Represented by Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musibau Babatunde, Lawal highlighted the administration's commitment to safeguarding lives and property through collaboration with security agencies.

He noted the increasing sophistication of criminal networks in raising and moving funds, particularly through crowdfunding platforms and NGOs. Lawal stressed the importance of humanitarian assistance while advocating for improved regulatory frameworks and monitoring to prevent exploitation by criminal elements.

He called for enhanced financial intelligence and coordination among government agencies to disrupt these networks and urged participants from relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to understand terrorism financing trends for early detection and prevention.
