Oyo Police Rescue Five-Year-Old from Kidnappers

On July 11, 2026, the Oyo State Police Command successfully rescued five-year-old Fikayo Gbemiga, who had been kidnapped from her residence in Iyana Offa, Lagelu Local Government Area. The police arrested two suspects, identified as Seyi Adegboy and Adefemi Adegboy, who were allegedly demanding a ransom of N10 million for her release.

The police's anti-kidnap squad utilized technological investigative tools to trace and identify the suspects, leading to their arrest at a hideout in the Mojoyin Molad area of Iwo Road, Ibadan. The operation commenced at 10:30 PM, and the victim was rescued unharmed shortly thereafter.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects unlawfully gained access to the victim's residence and had previously received N1 million as ransom. The police spokesman confirmed that efforts to recover the ransom already collected are ongoing, and additional members of the kidnapping syndicate remain at large.
