Oyo Police Rescue Five-Year-Old Girl from Kidnappers

On July 11, 2026, the Oyo State Police Command successfully rescued a five-year-old girl named Fikayo Gbemiga, who had been abducted from her family's residence in the Iyana Offa area of Lagelu Local Government. The police's anti-kidnap squad utilized intelligence gathering and technological tools to trace and identify the suspects.

The operation culminated in the arrest of the principal suspects at a hideout in the Mojoyin Molad area of Iwo Road, Ibadan, at approximately 10:30 PM. During preliminary investigations, it was revealed that the suspects unlawfully accessed the victim's residence and demanded a ransom of 10 million naira for her release.

They had already collected 1 million naira from the victim's family prior to her rescue. The police are continuing their investigations to recover the ransom and apprehend additional members of the kidnapping syndicate.

In a separate operation, three suspects involved in a railway vandalism syndicate were also arrested, with stolen rail tracks valued at 200 million naira recovered.
