FG Launches N297bn Ibadan-Ijebu Road Reconstruction

On Monday, the Federal Government initiated the N297 billion reconstruction of the 56.5km Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode Road in Oyo State, amid protests from the state government regarding the exclusion of Governor Seyi Makinde from the ceremony. President Bola Tinubu, represented by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, stated that the project is a key part of his administration's infrastructural development agenda aimed at improving road conditions across Nigeria.

The project, managed by JRB Construction Company, is expected to be completed within 36 months. Tinubu highlighted the road's significance for economic connectivity, benefiting farmers, manufacturers, and students.

Minister of State for Works, Bello Mohammed, noted that the project would alleviate transportation issues in the region, while Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, referred to the road as a gift to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja. Umahi also mentioned additional road projects in the region, emphasizing the long-term commitment of the administration to infrastructure.
