Oyo Residents Praise FERMA for Road Rehabilitation Efforts

Residents and motorists in Oyo State have expressed gratitude towards the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) for its road rehabilitation efforts, particularly in the Ago-Atisbo Local Government area. Madam Lawal Falilatu commended the federal government for addressing the previously terrible road conditions, which had caused numerous accidents.

Other residents, including Mr. Janet Olasiji and commercial driver Adewal Olaitan, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the positive impact on transport and vehicle maintenance.

Engr. Olutund Adepoju, the FERMA field officer in Oyo State, noted that the roads, constructed between 1979 and 1980, had deteriorated due to poor maintenance.

He confirmed ongoing rehabilitation work covering 1,110 square meters in Kishi and plans to extend repairs to the Iseyin corridor. Despite security concerns limiting major operations in recent years, the agency aims to improve rural road networks critical for agricultural activities.

However, Adepoju acknowledged funding constraints as a significant challenge for further rehabilitation efforts.
