Oyo Surveying School Approved for University Upgrade

The Oyo State Surveyor General School has been granted approval for an upgrade to university status by the National Assembly, as disclosed by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Abdulganiyu Adebomehin. This announcement was made during a press briefing shortly after the 64th Governing Council meeting held at the institution.

Adebomehin justified the upgrade, emphasizing the school's century-long existence and its role as a center of knowledge in surveying in Nigeria. He highlighted the importance of surveying in national development and the need for a dedicated institution to address this.

Additionally, the Governing Council ratified the appointments of two principal officers: Dr. Gabriel Adebayo as Registrar and Mr.

Oniked Kamil as Bursar, effective May 17, 2026. Dr.

Kennedi Eiriemiokhal was also appointed as the school librarian, with a five-year tenure starting February 2, 2026.
