Oyo State Targets End to Open Defecation by 2031

The Oyo State Government, represented by Commissioner Ademola Aderinto, has committed to ending open defecation by the year 2031. This announcement was made during the flag-off of the construction of public toilet facilities at Ojoo Market in Ibadan.

The project is part of the state government's ongoing efforts to enhance sanitation and promote public health, aligning with UNICEF's agenda to eliminate open defecation in the state. Aderinto emphasized the importance of this initiative in creating a cleaner public space and a healthier environment for residents and visitors.

He urged traders and visitors at Ojoo Market to utilize the new facilities properly and cooperate with the government's efforts to maintain good sanitation practices. The Oyo State Government remains dedicated to strengthening sanitation infrastructure and implementing policies aimed at achieving these targets within the stipulated timeline.
