FG Disburses N32.88bn for Basic Healthcare in Q2 2026

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the disbursement of N32,880,443,906.25 from the Basic Healthcare Fund for the second quarter of 2026, as confirmed by Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare.

This approval was conveyed during the 15th Ministerial Oversight Committee meeting held in Abuja. To date, a total of N290 billion has been disbursed since the inception of the fund.

The committee aims to enhance the implementation of healthcare services nationwide and has included private sector actors within its framework to strengthen stakeholder participation. Prof.

Pate reaffirmed the government's commitment to improving the healthcare sector and ensuring efficient use of public health resources. The meeting involved key stakeholders, including representatives from the National Health Insurance Authority, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, among others.

The committee emphasized the need for improved financial sustainability and operational efficiency in the healthcare system.
