Aide to Osun Governor Threatens Legal Action Over Recording

Olawal Rashe, spokesperson for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has announced plans to sue Salli Tibbot and Bakrin Ottun for allegedly unlawfully recording a telephone conversation involving the governor's chief of staff, Kazeem Akinley. The statement, obtained in Osogbo on Wednesday, defends Akinley's role in the payroll audit verification process conducted by Tibbot's firm.

Rashe claims that a voice recording circulating on social media, which features a male voice expressing anger and cursing, is intended to malign Akinley. He asserts that the recording was made without authorization, constituting a serious breach of cybercrime and data protection laws.

Rashe emphasizes that Akinley has acted within the law and has upheld due process in handling the payroll audit, which is linked to allegations of ghost workers in the state's payroll. The governor's administration has rejected claims of fraud associated with the audit report, asserting that previous administrations had improperly added 12,000 workers to the payroll.
