IG Disu Highlights PCRC's Role in Grassroots Security

On Thursday, Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu highlighted the critical role of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in intelligence gathering and grassroots security during a courtesy visit to their headquarters in Abuja. Disu praised the committee for its decade-long support of the Nigeria Police Force, noting their significant contributions during times of heightened tension, such as the nationwide protests.

He recalled how the PCRC helped maintain calm in Rivers State during a period of unrest. Disu emphasized the need for continued collaboration, urging PCRC members to avoid misuse of their identity and maintain integrity.

Alhaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, the national chairman of PCRC, reaffirmed the committee's loyalty to the Nigeria Police Force and announced plans for their 42nd anniversary on May 7, 2026. The PCRC aims to enhance community mobilization and support the police through various initiatives, including repairing police vehicles and addressing youth-related social issues.
