PDP Prepares for 2027 Elections, Says Bauchi Chairman

Samaila Burga, the Bauchi State Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), stated that the party is alive and prepared for the 2027 elections during a press briefing at the PDP headquarters in Bauchi on Tuesday. Burga explained that the Supreme Court ruling, which nullified the national convention of the party held in Ibadan, has created a leadership vacuum at the national level.

In response, the PDP has appointed a 13-member caretaker committee to manage the party's affairs at the state level. He assured that the party's current leadership will screen aspirants for various positions ahead of the elections.

Burga also emphasized that defections from the party by former members will not impact its performance in the upcoming elections. The PDP has successfully concluded congresses at the ward level in 26 states, ratified by the National Executive Committee (NEC), despite the absence of a national chairman responsible for calling meetings.
