PDP Criticizes Bayelsa Government on Poverty and Hunger

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Bayelsa State government, led by Governor Douye Diri, of worsening poverty by focusing on infrastructure development without addressing food security. PDP's Ikaebimo Mark stated that the administration's failure to create wealth and provide employment has led to increased hunger and poverty among residents.

Despite the state receiving increased revenue and federal allocations, the living conditions have reportedly deteriorated. The PDP criticized the government for being disconnected from the realities faced by the people, while the state government, represented by Ebiuw Koku Obiyai, dismissed these claims as misleading, asserting that significant investments have been made in various sectors.

The state government emphasized its commitment to improving welfare through various programs over the past six years. PDP further blamed the federal government, led by Bola Tinubu, for the ongoing crisis, arguing that the administration's policies have failed to address the needs of Bayelsans.
