PDP Condemns Tambuwal’s Arrest by EFCC, Says It’s Assault on Political Dissent

The People Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State strongly condemned the arrest and investigation of Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the immediate past Governor of Sokoto State, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The party described the action as an assault on political dissent in the country and accused the EFCC of being motivated by political actors seeking to tarnish Tambuwal's reputation and intimidate him into abandoning opposition to misrule.

The PDP demanded that the EFCC maintain independence and impartiality, refraining from being used as a tool for political persecution. The party expressed confidence in Tambuwal's credibility and commitment to democracy, urging supporters to remain resolute in demanding genuine democracy and good governance.

The PDP also called on the international community to take note of the government's actions and condemn the persecution of opposition leaders, emphasizing the importance of democracy and good governance in Nigeria.
