Fayose Defends Support for Tinubu at PDP Convention

Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, publicly defended his support for Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), during the PDP national convention held in Abuja. Fayose argued that his backing for Tinubu should not be viewed as anti-party activity, despite his membership in the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

He highlighted that political differences are a normal feature of democracy, citing examples from international politics, such as former President Barack Obama not supporting the Democratic Party's candidate Donald Trump. Fayose further stated that it is essential to prioritize national interest above party loyalty.

He criticized the comparison between Seyi Makinde, the current governor of Oyo State, and Tinubu, asserting that no one in the PDP can match Tinubu's political stature. The convention also saw divisions within the PDP, with factions led by Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
