Gbenga Hashim Advocates for PDP Reconciliation After Convention

Gbenga Hashim, a member of the PDP, stated that reconciliation within the party is still possible following its recent convention. He warned that sidelining major blocs could weaken the party's position as a formidable opposition force.

Hashim stressed that the ongoing divisions must be addressed to maintain the party's strength and called for an urgent resumption of dialogue among leaders. He emphasized the necessity of harmonizing the party's structure in line with previous agreements.

Hashim noted that ongoing legal proceedings in Ibadan and appeals to the Supreme Court could provide legitimate avenues for resolving disputes, and he believes a political compromise remains achievable. He underscored the importance of preserving the PDP as an inclusive platform that prioritizes unity among factions and addresses structural divisions, including conflicts arising from separate congresses and parallel national work committees that have plagued the party.
