PDP Welcomes Court Ruling for Sule Lamido's Contest

Umar Kyari Jitau, spokesperson for the Jigawa State People's Democratic Party (PDP), expressed satisfaction with a recent court ruling that rectified what he described as an injustice against Sule Lamido. The appeal court affirmed a prior decision that nullified the PDP's national congress held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The three-member panel of the appeal court ruled that the appeal filed by the PDP lacked merit and that the Federal High Court had correctly delivered its judgment on October 31. The ruling granted relief to the plaintiff and rejected the PDP's argument regarding the trial court's jurisdiction.

Jitau emphasized that the dispute arose when Lamido was denied the opportunity to contest during the congress due to personal interests. Following the court's decision, Jitau indicated that the PDP in Jigawa State would prepare for a new congress, expressing optimism that this development would help revive the party.
