PDP Aligns with Lamido and Wike Amid Leadership Crisis

The Jigawa State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), represented by spokesman Umar Kyari, has announced its alignment with former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. This decision comes as the PDP grapples with deep internal divisions and rival factions contesting control of the party's leadership structure.

Lamido emphasized the need for party stakeholders to recognize the caretaker committee led by Abdulrahman Moham, which reportedly supports Wike, as a practical step towards restoring unity within the party. Kyari noted that the legal framework allows for the formation of a caretaker committee when the tenure of previous leadership expires, preventing the party from being left without structure.

The PDP is expected to hold a major meeting on March 29 to reconcile feuding factions and restore unity ahead of the 2027 general elections, although the outcome of these efforts remains uncertain.
