PDP Backs G-100 Initiative for 2027 Elections

The Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announced its support for the G-100 initiative on Tuesday, following a meeting held on Monday at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja. The G-100 initiative seeks to unite opposition parties in preparation for the 2027 general elections, with the goal of producing a single candidate to contest against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP faction, through its National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong, expressed that their participation is motivated by the economic challenges faced by Nigerians under the Bola Tinubu administration. The faction emphasized the importance of transparency, equality, and data-driven decisions in the process, asserting that these principles would lead to credible leadership capable of addressing poverty and insecurity.

The G-100 is described as a collective of 100 opposition figures working towards forming a broad political alliance to effectively challenge the APC in the upcoming elections.
