PDP Inaugurates 44-Member Zoning Committee, Threatens Sanctions Against Disloyal Members

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated a 44-member zoning committee for its November national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State. Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum urged the committee to ensure fairness in distributing key party offices and emphasized the importance of the panel's decisions in influencing the party's 2027 presidential ticket.

The committee, led by Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri, aims to restore public confidence and prioritize unity, equity, and strategic positioning for victory. PDP Governors Forum Chairman Bala Mohammed expressed full support, calling the party Nigeria's best hope for credible governance after years of APC rule.

The party also issued a warning against disloyalty, threatening sanctions for members, including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who do not show 100 percent loyalty. The PDP dismissed Wike's objections to the recent zonal congress, stating that the party's conditions must be met by all members ahead of the convention.
