PDP Appoints Interim Leaders, Issues 2027 Election Guidelines

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee (NEC) convened for its 103rd meeting, where it appointed Kabiru Tanimu Turaki as the interim national chairman and Toafeek Arapaja as the interim national secretary. This decision follows a Supreme Court ruling that nullified the previous national working committee.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde emphasized the need for a swift release of the certified true copy of the Supreme Court judgment. The meeting, attended by two-thirds of the NEC members, also included significant figures such as Esther Udehi and Adolphu Wabara, who was appointed as pro tem chairman.

The NEC issued guidelines for the upcoming 2027 general elections, reaffirming the party's commitment to democracy and addressing leadership disputes within the party, particularly those stemming from the faction led by Nyesom Wike. The interim leaders pledged to ensure the party's viability and presence in Nigeria's democratic landscape.
