Wike Declares PDP's Rebirth at 10th National Convention

Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, announced that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is now back in loyal hands during the party's 10th national convention held in Abuja. He described the gathering as a turning point for the party following a month of internal crisis, marking a rebirth and a reset of its leadership structure.

Wike criticized party members who defected during the crisis, stating that true leadership requires courage and commitment, and he praised grassroots members for their loyalty despite pressures. He called on defectors to return to the PDP, assuring them of inclusivity and unity.

Wike also criticized opposition figures, including former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, for failing to provide leadership during the party's crisis. Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Wike expressed confidence that the PDP would remain politically relevant and urged members to recommit to strengthening the party's internal structure to ensure adequate representation of the people's voice.
