PDP Screens 134 Aspirants for Plateau Primaries

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) conducted a screening of 134 aspirants in preparation for the Plateau State primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections. The screening process, overseen by chairman Tyem Gideon Nanden, included three senatorial aspirants and 131 candidates for the House of Assembly.

Nanden disclosed that a consensus arrangement was reached for the senatorial candidates, which includes Johnbuil Shekarau for Plateau South, Formson Godson Dalyop for Plateau Central, and another candidate for Plateau North. The screening committee also noted that the contest for the Langtang North and Langtang South federal constituency seats remains open.

Nanden expressed optimism about conducting peaceful primaries across the state. Additionally, five governorship aspirants, including Kefa Wungak and Ropshik Sarpya, are currently undergoing screening in Abuja.

Nanden dismissed reports of factionalism within the PDP, asserting the party's unity under the leadership of Abdulrahman Moham and Samuel Anyanwu.
