PDP Schedules Screening for 2027 Presidential Aspirants

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has scheduled the screening of presidential and governorship aspirants for the upcoming 2027 general elections. According to a statement issued by the party's national director of publicity, Chinw Nnorom, the screening will take place on May 18, 2023.

Governorship aspirants are set to be screened at noon, while presidential aspirants will appear before the screening committee at 2 PM at the PDP national secretariat annex in Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja. The screening committee for presidential aspirants is chaired by former Abia State Governor Hassan Sokodobo, with members including Abba Isawa, Georg Sekibo, Sodipo Semiu, Chinelo Chidebelu, Nasiru Moham, Zainab Kure, and Lindsei Sora.

The governorship screening committee is chaired by former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi, with Georg Ariolu serving as secretary. Additionally, the interim National Working Committee (NWC) led by Tanimu Turaki has extended the deadline for purchasing nomination forms to May 15 and the submission of completed forms to May 18, with screening of aspirants fixed for May 19.
