PDP South-West Denies Impeachment Plot Against Makinde

The South-West leadership of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed allegations of an impeachment plot against Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, describing the claims as unfounded and politically motivated. Sanya Atofari, the party's zonal secretary, made this statement during a press briefing at the party's zonal headquarters in Ibadan on Monday.

Atofari emphasized that there is no impeachment process against Makinde and stressed that the report was fabricated, creating unnecessary tension in the state. The allegations gained attention amid concerns raised by members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, who distanced themselves from the developments.

The situation was further complicated by comments from former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, who suggested that Makinde's administration was targeting traditional figures, including Oba Rashidi Ladoja. The PDP leadership criticized Fayose's remarks as detrimental to public discourse and capable of inciting unrest.

They reaffirmed their support for Makinde and urged Nigerians to remain calm and vigilant against politically motivated instability.
