Turaki at Supreme Court for PDP Leadership Dispute Judgment

Tanimu Turaki, the faction leader of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), arrived at the Supreme Court for a judgment concerning a leadership dispute within the party. The case aims to overturn a prior court appeal judgment and nullify actions that allegedly violated a subsisting court order.

The appeal is associated with case numbers SC CV 166/2026 and SC CV 180/2026. The Federal High Court had previously restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission from recognizing the ADC congress to conduct leadership activities pending the resolution of internal disputes within the party.

The electoral commission had set a deadline of May 10 for political parties to submit their membership registers. The presidential national assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, while the governorship and state assembly elections are set for February 6, 2027.

The party's primary elections are expected to run from April 23 to May 30, 2026, with presidential campaign activities commencing on August 19, 2026.
