PDP Poised to Reclaim Kwara Power, Warns Ex-Ambassador

Former Nigerian Ambassador Olusola Ayeni, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is waiting for any opportunity to take over Kwara State, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking at a summit in Offa, Ayeni emphasized that the APC's chances of retaining power depend significantly on the caliber of candidates selected for the governorship and state assembly elections.

He warned that the APC risks losing the state if it does not choose credible candidates who resonate with grassroots sentiments and avoid ethnic and religious biases. Ayeni also noted that the PDP, led by former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, is actively strengthening its structure across the state.

He urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership to ensure a popular and inclusive candidate selection process. Additionally, the Ilorin Emir Political Advisory Council endorsed the re-election bid of President Tinubu and the governorship aspiration of Saliu Mustapha for the 2027 elections.
