PDP's Wike Confident of 2027 Election Comeback

Nyesom Wike, a key figure in the People's Democratic Party (PDP), announced that the party will hold its national convention on March 29-30, 2024, as part of efforts to reconcile aggrieved members. Speaking on Friday night while inspecting the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, Wike expressed confidence in the PDP's potential to perform well in the 2027 general elections, stating that it will "shock Nigerians." He dismissed concerns regarding a Supreme Court appeal led by Tanimu Turaki, asserting that it would not affect the convention.

Wike emphasized the importance of resolving internal disagreements and accommodating the diverse interests within the party, which he described as large enough to include everyone. He confirmed that positions within the party have already been shared among regions to ensure balance.

The PDP aims to present a unified front at the convention, with preparations reportedly 95% complete, and expects around 2,500 delegates to attend the event scheduled for Sunday and Monday.
