Peaceful Ondo South Bye-Election Sees High Voter Turnout

The Ondo South senatorial district bye-election took place on a Saturday, aiming to fill the vacancy created by the appointment of former Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria's permanent representative to the United Nations. The election saw a massive turnout of eligible voters across six local government areas, including Ilaje, Okitipupa, Irele, Odigbo, Ileoluji, and Okeigbo.

Governor Lucki Aiyedatiwa reported a peaceful atmosphere and commended voter participation, encouraging residents to continue supporting security agencies. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced accreditation and voting without significant delays, with security personnel deployed to ensure order.

APC candidate Prof. Dayo Faduyil expressed confidence in a successful outcome, citing favorable reports from polling units. The election was characterized by a calm atmosphere, with no reports of violence or intimidation, underscoring the commitment to a democratic process.
