PENGASSAN Implements Smooth Leadership Transition Model

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) is taking steps to ensure a harmonious leadership transition, as stated by the national President, Engr. Fetus Osifo, during a memorial for the late Comrade Francis Olabode Johnson.

PENGASSAN has introduced a transitional amendment allowing the Vice President to automatically succeed the President when their tenure concludes, which is set for August. This change aims to prevent the disharmony that has historically accompanied leadership transitions within the union.

Osifo noted that the current leadership viewed past conflicts as avoidable distractions and sought to adopt a model similar to that used by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). Under this new model, the presidency will not be contested, only the Vice Presidency, which will lead to a smoother transition and reduced tensions among members.
