Tekno Reveals Vocal Cord Struggles and Career Decline

Augustin Kelechi Alia, known as Tekno, shared his struggles with severe vocal cord damage caused by acid reflux, which significantly impacted his music career from 2018 to 2021. During this period, he was unable to sing and had to take a multi-year hiatus, disrupting his momentum in the music industry.

In a recent interview with Cool FM in Lagos, Tekno recounted how he battled this vocal cord disease and the emotional toll it took on him, leading him to hate music for a time. Despite his challenges, he felt misunderstood by those around him, who labeled him as lazy for not performing or producing music during his recovery.

He admitted to initially keeping his ailment a secret, even from close team members, which contributed to the perception that he was not motivated to work. Tekno eventually found inspiration through reading, which helped him reconnect with music and heal emotionally.
