Kompany Credits Guardiola for Coaching Inspiration

Vincent Kompany, the current coach of Bayern Munich, credited his former mentor Pep Guardiola for instilling in him the belief that he could become a coach. Speaking in Berlin ahead of the German Cup final against Stuttgart, Kompany reflected on his three seasons as a player under Guardiola at Manchester City.

He acknowledged Guardiola's influence on his personal development and coaching aspirations, stating that Guardiola's leadership style and unwavering desire to win were pivotal in shaping his own character. Kompany, who captained Manchester City during his time there, won back-to-back Premier League titles under Guardiola in 2018 and 2019.

He took over as Bayern Munich's head coach in 2024 and has since led the club to two consecutive Bundesliga titles, aiming for a third major honor in the upcoming final.
