Yemi Solade Claims Seniority Over Pete Edochie in Nollywood

Yemi Solade has reiterated his claim of having entered the Nigerian film industry before Pete Edochie, stating he has been acting for 48 years. In a recent interview with Feel Right News, Solade confirmed that while he respects Edochie as his elder, he believes he predates him in the industry.

He argues that Yoruba filmmakers were creating films long before Nollywood was recognized, referencing figures like Peju Ogunmola and Muka Ray to support his point. Solade criticized media coverage for favoring English-language filmmakers, which he feels skews the historical narrative of Nollywood and neglects the contributions of Yoruba artists.

Additionally, he addressed a personal habit of meeting people at hotels, clarifying that it has led to misunderstandings regarding his intentions. He also expressed disappointment over the lack of attendance from colleagues at the burial of late actor Segun Remi, calling their absence sad and appalling.
