Kola Olaiya Critiques Pete Edochie's Pride in Nollywood

Kola Olaiya, a veteran Nollywood actor, accused his colleague Pete Edochie of pride and failing to pay homage to older theatre practitioners who contributed to the Nigerian film industry. In an interview with Oyinmomo TV, Olaiya urged Edochie to recognize the efforts of veteran entertainers, specifically mentioning Hubert Ogunde, who started his theatre career in 1944 after leaving the police force.

Olaiya noted that Ogunde had produced numerous films and recorded hit songs before Edochie was born. He asserted that while Edochie may claim to have no seniors in the South East, he cannot make that claim across Nigeria.

Olaiya stated, “I have known him for long that pride is in his blood. That is why he cannot pay homage to the elders that made him.” He also recounted his experiences working with Ogunde, describing him as a father figure who significantly influenced his life and career.
