Peter Obi Denies Claims on Soldiers' Salary Increase

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has refuted reports suggesting he advised Nigerian soldiers to reject any salary increase until after the 2027 general elections. In a statement on his Facebook page, Obi labeled the reports as false and urged the public to disregard them.

He clarified that his concerns were rooted in the vulnerability of soldiers during insurgent attacks, which he felt warranted better support and resources for the military. Obi expressed unwavering respect for Nigeria's security forces and stated that the welfare and safety of armed forces personnel would be a major priority if he were elected president.

He promised that under his leadership, the government would ensure that soldiers are adequately protected and supported, emphasizing that those responsible for national security should not be treated as secondary concerns. Obi called the misleading report damaging and reaffirmed his commitment to a clear vision for a secure Nigeria.
